MAZARIN – We’re
Already There (2005)
If there was ever
a thought about the dwindling of indie rock, Mazarin completely
reverses thinking and seems to fill the void that so many indie
artists have created by forgoing originality and merriment, in
their third, powerful release, titled We’re
Already There. This album truly brings out Mazarin’s creativity
in full force, and although one might be able to compare them
to other indie-pop groups, they stand alone in originality, and
their charm is sure to bring listeners who were before afraid
of the indie scene. Mazarin’s sound is altogether different,
mixing instruments like bells with wavering keyboard melodies,
while at the same time throwing unique drum beats into each song.
It’s almost amazing how four guys can actually produce
the kind of sounds heard on the record because they seem gigantic
and almost over the top. Quentin Stoltzfus, who put the newest
record together in Philadelphia with others, has an amazing voice,
which sounds almost electronic. His haunting vocals paired with
the menagerie of sounds throughout the record, make We’re
Already There an instant gem. Mazarin will be touring throughout
December.
