MENDEZ - My Girlfriend is Melting (2005)
This
debut album from laid-back guitarist Miguel Mendez is a combination
of simple folk rock with a certain psychedelic pothead aroma,
making it a record for all occasions. His music seems to speak
to more than one generation, and was even featured on the soundtrack
of the emotionally draining, popular television show, “The O.C.” in 2004. Mendez not only has beautifully
romantic and poetic lyrics, but his tunes weave slow, soothing,
sounds in with the words, making this album one to listen to
on cold, dreary, day, or during a tedious car ride. The most
impressive aspect of Mendez’s presentation is in fact what
he accomplishes with the guitar, as each note genuinely reflects
the overall sentiment of every song. According to the I and Ear
Records website, Mendez plans to push his talents further in
2006 by starting up a band with Joel Morales from Dios. The two
hope to release an EP, but Mendez will most likely also continue
his solo projects.
